Liverpool Everyman’s forthcoming production of Macbeth sees David Morrissey return to his home town of Liverpool and the theatre where he started his career as a member of the Everyman’s youth theatre.

In spite of Jemma Redgrave pulling out of the performance earlier this week due to personal reasons, rehearsals have continued at pace with Julia Ford joining the cast as Lady Macbeth.

Gemma Bodinetz, artistic director of the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, helms the production which opens on 12 May and runs until 11 June 2011 (previews from 6 May), the theatre’s last in-house production before the it is closed for redeveloped.

Morrissey and Ford are joined in the cast by Mark Arends, Ken Bradshaw, Richard Bremmer, Neil Caple, Matthew Flynn, Gillian Kearney, Syrus Lowe, Gavin Marshall, Shaun Mason, Nathan McMullen and Eileen O’Brien.

The production is designed Francis O’Connor, with music by Peter Coyte, lighting by Colin Grenfell and sound by Fergus O’Hare.
