Five Reasons To See…Thai Brides and Teacakes

MaD Theatre are garnering a reputation for edgy theatre which combines multi-media with live action via their highly acclaimed pieces such as Angels With Manky Faces. They return to the region later this month with Thai Brides and Teacakes. We ask their Artistic director Rob Lees for five reasons why you should go along.

1. Thai Brides and Tea Cakes is Proper Funny!
With a very witty and fast-paced script with outrageous and politically incorrect characters, it’s ‘Mel Brooks comes to Moston’! Slightly controversial and rude it’s Viz on stage with a Manc accent!

2. Brilliant music by the Naughtys!
With an original soundtrack by Manchester’s finest Ska Punk Indie combo, the soundtrack is a work of musical genius in itself!

3. Excellent films by Paul Cliff!
Because we are pot-less and can’t afford a set, we are lucky to have digital artist and international filmmaker Paul Cliff on board. He weaves his celluloid magic which becomes a masterpiece worthy of a least runner up prize in any third rate film festival!

4. Film Cameos by top Mancunian DJs!
XFM’s Clint Boon plays a randy bin man who ‘has it off’ with out-of-work guy’s voluptuous misses ~ played by DJ Phil Beckett and actress Fiona Gordon, respectively. *

5. Liable to Offend!
If you are in any way sensitive about rude words, bare bums or anything remotely involving having a laugh, then please stay away. However, if you don’t mind then we guarantee you will never see anything like Thai Brideas and Teacakes and your life will be that much richer for having watched it!

* (Fiona is the Farmer’s wife buttering John Lydon’s crumpet in the Country Life butter ads)!
