Collins and Higginson cast in Octagon’s Demolition Man

Former Eastenders star Michelle Collins is set to star in the Bolton Octagon’s Demolition Man – a new play which looks at the life of local legend Fred Dibnah, this funny and tender new play has been researched in collaboration with Fred’s wife Sheila and some of his closest friends.

Playing the role of Fred will be John Branwell. John has a wealth of experience in TV, film and theatre, and recently appeared in Comedians at the Octagon. Joining him will be Huw Higginson who played PC George Garfield in ITV’s The Bill, and John McArdle who appeared in Brookside and Mersey Beat. Both actors have extensive acting experience in television and on stage, and have both appeared on the Octagon stage in the past. Most recently Huw appeared in A Streetcar Named Desire playing the role of Harold ‘Mitch’ Mitchell.

Collins, is playing the role of Fred’s wife Sheila. Michelle is perhaps best known for her role playing Cindy Beale in EastEnders, but will also be appearing on the Octagon stage next year when she will be playing the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet.

Demolition Man runs at the Octagon from 7 Aptil –  May, 2011
