Scrooge tour cancels first performances due to Tommy Steele injury
The production has been cancelled at the first three venues of the tour due to the star's injury
The upcoming UK tour of Scrooge starring Tommy Steele has had to cancel its first performances following the star's injury.
The runs at the New Wimbledon Theatre, London, the Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham and the Wycombe Swan in High Wycombe have all been cancelled, meaning that the tour will now start in Southampton on 12 November.
Scrooge - which was last at the London Palladium last year, again starring Steele - tells Dickens' story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge who, after a night facing the ghosts of his past, present and his frightening future, is transformed, his Christmas spirit restored.
Steele has played the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in the show more times than any other actor.
His injury is said to require "immediate surgery".
Following its run in Southampton, the tour will continue to Leeds, Brighton, Blackpool and Llandudno.
