Birmingham Royal Ballet Announces New Season
The highlight of the new programme will be a brand new production of ‘Cinderella’ choreographed by David Bentley, with designs by Nutcracker designer John. F Macfarlane. The production will receive its world premiere at the company’s home, Birmingham Hippodrome in late November. The production runs from 24th November through to 12th December, replacing the seasonal favourite The Nutcracker which takes a break from this year’s programme.
‘Romeo and Juliet’, first performed at the Hippodrome in 1992, makes a return to the programme with 6 performances only from 29th September- 2nd October; with a sweeping score by Sergei Prokofiev and choreography from Kenneth MacMillan, Romeo and Juliet continues to be the all-time classic love story.
Other highlights of the recently announced season include two productions showcasing a compilation of pieces; ‘Pointes of View’ (22nd-25th September 2010) and ‘Passion and Ecstasy’ (22nd-25th June 2011). ‘La Fille mal gardee’ (2nd-5th March 2011) and ‘Coppelia’ (15th-18th June 2011) complete the works for the current season.
Subscriptions to all six shows are now on sale via the post, and tickets go on sale to the public 31st March. For more information visit www.brb.org.uk.
