Biggles Flies A Fokker Home (Bath)

Biggles Flies A Fokker Home, Rondo Theatre, Bath

Tuesday 6th Dec – Sunday 11th (5-30pm) with two shows on Saturday 10th (matinee and evening).

Bath’s Rondo Theatre showcases yet another new show – this time Dougie Blaxland’s Biggles Rides a Fokker Home, an unambiguous spoof of the recently re-released Biggles books.

With big moustaches, silly headgear and a great deal of SS-bashing (and Germans in general), the cast romps its way through a contractually-obligated mish-mash of adventures, confusions, escapes and dodgy disguises.

Director Amy Tobias has set herself a challenge with such a demanding format, and they largely carry it off, leaving a very merry audience. Darian Nelson’s Biggles is all you could ask for (particularly in his misty-eyed moments), and Natalie Farmer deserves special mention in dispatches for artfully managing six roles, hats, accents and all. Ed Browning plays a great supporting character in Ginger and Derek Le Page plays an Algy you can’t not be fond of.
