Alan Ayckbourn's Confusions and Hero’s Welcome embark on national tour

The productions will also tour to New York as part of the Brits off Broadway festival

From January 2016, the world premiere production of Alan Ayckbourn's 79th play, Hero’s Welcome, and a major revival of his 1974 hit Confusions will embark on a national and international tour.

Confusions is a series of five interconnected one-act plays whilst Hero’s Welcome follows war hero Murray as he returns to the neighbourhood he once fled.

The Confusions cast features Stephen Billington (The Crucible, Coronation Street), Emma Manton (Love’s Labour’s Lost, Love’s Labour’s Won), Russell Dixon (Roundelay), Richard Stacey (Arrivals & Departures and Elizabeth Boag (Arrivals & Departures).

The same cast will also appear in Hero’s Welcome alongside sixth company member, Evelyn Hoskins (Carrie, The Sound of Music Live).

Writer and director Alan Ayckbourn said: "A chance to see, for those who doubt it (!) how my work has changed over 40 years. I must say, I hardly recognised myself…"

Confusions and Hero’s Welcome will run at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre from 13 to 23 January, after which the productions will tour to Cambridge, Bath, Windsor, Eastbourne and Malvern before heading to the Brits off Broadway Festival in New York in the summer.
