Aladdin extends run into 2017

The new Disney musical starts previews this week

With previews beginning this evening (27 May), producers have announced that Disney's Aladdin has extended its booking period to 11 February 2017.

The musical, which is now in its third year on Broadway, will officially open on 15 June with Dean John-Wilson in the titular role.

He is joined by Jade Ewen as Jasmine, Trevor Dion Nicholas makes his West End debut as the Genie and Rock of Ages star Nathan Amzi plays Babkak.

The cast also includes Don Gallagher (Jafar), Peter Howe (Iago), Irvine Iqbal (Sultan), Stephen Rahman-Hughes (Kassim) and Rachid Sabitri (Omar).

Aladdin features many of the songs from the 1992 Academy Award-winning film including "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me", as well as new music written by Tony, Olivier and Academy Award-winner Alan Menken.

Seen by more than 1.5 million people on Broadway, the musical is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon) and designed by Bob Crowley.

Aladdin opens at the Prince Edward Theatre on 15 June 2016.
