Sheffield local Dominic West has returned to the Crucible Theatre to make his musical theatre debut in a new production of My Fair Lady, which opened to a rapturous reception last night (18 December 2012, previews from 12 December).

West plays professor Henry Higgins opposite Carly Bawden as Covent Garden flower seller turned linguistic guinea pig Eliza
Dolittle. The cast also features Anthony Calf as Colonel Pickering, Martyn Ellis as Alfred Doolittle, Richenda Carey as Mrs Higgins and Nicola Sloane as Mrs Pearce.

Sheffield Theatres artistic director Daniel Evans directs,
with designs by Paul Wills and choreography by Alistair David.

Lerner and Loewe’s classic musical, adapted from George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion,
features the songs “On The Street where you Live”, “With a Little Bit
of Luck” and “I Could have Danced all Night”.
