Agyness Deyn Makes Stage Debut in Society Comedy
Model Agyness Deyn will make her stage acting debut next year in François Archambault’s comedy The Leisure Society, which opens at Trafalgar Studios 2 on 1 March 2012 (previews from 28 February).
The play centres on a self-obsessed ‘yuppie’ couple who find their lives spiralling out of control when they invite a fast-living friend and his promiscuous young lover (played by Deyn) round for dinner.
According to press material, “Dinner nosedives spectacularly into a drunken swamp of debauchery. Ever secretly slapped your best friend’s infant? Or actually had that threesome you’ve always longed for? Ever wondered what would happen if you gave your pain-in-the-ass conscience the night off? In an age where getting everything can mean having nothing.”
Deyn, who rose to fame after being spotted by a fashion designer while out shopping, has featured on the covers of Vogue, Grazia and Time, among others. She reportedly gave up modelling in 2009 to pursue an acting career, since when she has notched up film credits including The Clash of the Titans.
Ed Stoppard‘s many stage credits include the 2009 West End revival of his father’s play Arcadia as well as The Glass Menagerie, Hamlet (English Touring Theatre) and On the Rocks.
The Leisure Society, which is directed by Harry Burton, is being produced by Hillscape Productions and runs until 24 March.
