1st Night Photos: Redmayne is Donmar’s Richard II

It was an emotional evening at the Donmar Warehouse last night, where Michael Grandage’s last production as artistic director, a period staging of Richard II starring Eddie Redmayne in the title role, opened to critics.

Grandage and Redmayne previously worked together on the multi award-winning Red, which transferred to Broadway and picked up six Tony Awards – including Best Director and Best Performance by a Featured Actor.

Among the guests in attendance last night were Grandage’s soon-to-be-successor, Josie Rourke, and the Donmar’s chairman Chris Smith.
