WOS Radio: Clive Rowe’s Xmas & Panto Damehood

By • West End

In the latest Whatsonstage.com Radio podcast, Roger Foss gets into the pantomime spirit and goes backstage at the Hackney Empire to talk to Clive Rowe, currently playing Sarah the Cook in Dick Whittington and His Cat to great critical acclaim and to huge cheers from the kids in the audience.

Rowe explains why his annual stint as a pantomime dame here each Christmas is just as important to him as his numerous appearances in the West End and at the National Theatre. Rowe’s extensive theatre CV also includes the musicals Caroline, Or Change, Into the Woods, Carousel, Simply Heavenly, Chicago, Candide, Carmen Jones and Guys and Dolls, for which he won an Olivier for his role as Nicely Nicely Johnson in the National Theatre production.
