Porgy & Bess Are Broadway Bound???

By • West End
Just like the title characters in the Gershwins' classic opera who leave their homes for New York, Trevor Nunn’s musical adaptation of Porgy and Bess is headed to the Great White Way. The musical, which stars Clarke Peters and Nicola Hughes in the title roles, alongside a cast of 40 featuring OT Fagbenle, Cornell John and Dawn Hope, opened at the Savoy on 9 November 2006 (following previews from 25 October, See News, 6 Nov 2006). It is currently booking in the West End to 27 October 2007, and plans are underway to bring it to Broadway in late 2007 or early 2008. Casting and dates have not been announced for the Broadway production, which will be produced by the team behind the London show, including Richard Frankel, Tom Viertel, Steven Baruch, Marc Routh, Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Group and Tulchin/Bartner Productions.
