More Promises for Tour & Transfer???

By • West End
After a good clutch of reviews, the UK’s first major revival of Promises, Promises does indeed look destined for a life beyond Sheffield – be it a tour, London transfer or both. The production, which opened last week at Sheffield Crucible, is being co-produced by impresario Adam Spiegel, who’s had long-running success on the road and in town with the likes of Fame and Saturday Night Fever. Famously, the 1968 show - based on Billy Wilder and Neil Simon’s Oscar-winning 1960 film The Apartment, in which a man tries to climb the corporate ladder by letting bosses use his apartment for their romantic trysts - was the only musical written by supercool Sixties songwriter Burt Bacharach. The score by Bacharach, with lyrics by his long-time collaborator Hal David, includes the classic “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again”. The Sheffield production is directed by Angus Jackson, choreographed by Adam Cooper and stars Emma Williams and Richard Frame.
