Rumpole of the Bailey author John Mortimer could succeed where writer and disgraced former MP Jeffrey Archer failed with last year's box office flop The Accused - by bringing courtroom drama back into West End vogue. Mortimer has penned an all-new play, Naked Justice, which premieres at the Birmingham Rep in February ahead of a tour and anticipated West End transfer. The piece concerns a case with an apparently foregone conclusion - a 17-year-old accused of murder, had the motive, the confession and the deceased's blood on his clothes. The production stars Leslie Phillips and is directed by Richard Cottrell.
