The winners have been announced of the first ever Wicked Young Writers' Award. The long-running West End show launched the award earlier this year to "recognise excellence in writing, encourage creativity and help develop writing talent in young people between five and 25 years of age from across all backgrounds and areas of the UK".

The five winners - Rhiannon Paton (age 7), Matthew Burson (age 10), Caitlin Jenkins (age 13), Danny Tate (age 14) and Laura Wright - were announced at a special showcase at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, home of the Whatsonstage.com and Olivier award-winning musical. Prizes were presented by the award's Patron The Duchess of Cornwall and former Children’s Laureate Michael Morpurgo.
