Photos: Stars Come Out for Old Vic’s 24 Hour Gala

This weekend (Sunday 21 November 2010) saw the Old Vic embark on its seventh annual fundraising theatre challenge, The 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala, with star names including Rupert Evans, Kelly Brook and Ronni Ancona taking part in what is billed as “the ultimate theatrical challenge”.

Starting on Saturday night (20 November 2010) teams of actors, writers and directors write, rehearse and perform six short plays in just 24 hours, culminating in a performance on the mainstage of the Old Vic on Sunday evening.

The performance is followed by a glittery post show party for the valiant participants, The 25th Hour.

Past participants and hosts for the The 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala have included Joseph Fiennes, Stephen Fry, Josh Hartnett, Tom Hollander, James Nesbitt, Graham Norton, Kevin Spacey, Catherine Tate and Vince Vaughn.

The gala is held in aid of The Old Vic Theatre Trust and is the chief fundraiser for Old Vic New Voices, the Old Vic’s department which works in schools and the community to address poverty of aspiration and supports young emerging talent.

Although scheduled to take part in this year’s event, actress Sienna Miller pulled out of the event, reportedly due to a diary clash with shooting the upcoming drama Yellow which she is filming in Los Angeles. A spokesperson said: “Very sadly, she had to pull out due to a clash of dates and she’s extremely disappointed not to be able to be involved.”
