Lyric Panto Gets Vocal Support from Fry & Davies???

As theatres across the capital warm up for their Christmas seasons, it was today (24 November 2010) announced that Stephen Fry and Alan Davies, regular double-act on long-running BBC quiz QI would lend their voices to the Lyric Hammersmith’s Dick Whittington and his Cat which opens at the venue on 3 December (previews from 27 November 2010). The pair will voice Bow and Bells, two puppets that follow Dick Whittington’s adventures as he seeks his fame and fortune in London. Davies, who is best known for starring in television mystery series Jonathan Creek will play alongside Fry, whose recent vocal performances have included playing the Cheshire Cat in Tim Burton’s feature film Alice in Wonderland. Quite how Fry was persuaded to lend his distinctive pipes to the Lyric’s panto we do not know, but it does mean he’ll be sharing the stage with his 26-year old boyfriend, actor Steven Webb who plays Dick. How Davies’ literary agent wife Kate features in casting decisions we are unsure…
