Strallen & Pryce Live in Delfont Room, More Miller???

Sister Act star Patina Miller gave the first solo concert of her career last night (18 November 2009) as part of the LIVE IN THE DELFONT ROOM season of post-show cabarets, presented in association with Whatsonstage.com, at the West End’s Prince of Wales Theatre (See News, 11 Sep 2009).

And what a debut! The evening – directed by Billy Porter with musical arrangements and direction by James Sampliner, both of whom flew in specially from New York to work with Miller – was a sell-out sensation that earned the American a rapturous standing ovation at the end of a late night (which didn’t finish until nearly 1am).

Amongst those applauding Miller were her Sister Act co-stars Sheila Hancock and Julia Sutton (fellow nun from the show Katie Rowley-Jones also featured as a guest vocalist along with former Jesus Christ Superstar Steve Balsamo), a back-from-Broadway Scarlet Strallen, Wicked’s Oliver Tompsett and, last but not at all least, Jonathan Pryce, on a night out with his actress-wife Kate Fahy before bringing Pinter’s The Caretaker into the West End.

Strallen, Tompsett and Pryce weren’t there by accident – they’re in talks to appear themselves in the next LIVE IN THE DELFONT ROOM season, which will be announced soon on Whatsonstage.com And Miller had so much fun herself that we hear she’s also planning to return for another gig in the spring. Be sure to book far in advance for those hot tickets!

** As part of the Whatsonstage.com media partnership, members of the Whatsonstage.com Theatre Club can take advantage of a special value-added package for all concerts: a signed poster of the evening’s star plus two free drinks to enjoy before or during the performance.
