Laura Michelle Kelly is of course best known for her musical roles – she won an Olivier for Mary Poppins in addition to stints in My Fair Lady in the West End and Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway – but she may follow her current role as Elvish queen Galadriel in the musical adaptation in JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane by making her West End play debut in a David Mamet three-hander. According to the Daily Mail, Kelly is in talks to appear alongside Kevin Spacey in Mamet’s Hollywood expose Speed the Plow, which opens at the Old Vic in February.

Kelly would play Karen, the beautiful secretary who comes between Spacey’s Bobby Gould and his fellow film producer Charlie Fox. Tipped to play the latter is another American film star, Jeff Goldblum, whose credits include The Fly, Into the Night, Deep Cover, Jurassic Park and Independence Day.
