The Sultan’s Elephant - the largest piece of street theatre ever presented in London, which saw a three-storey wooden elephant roaming the capital over four days this past spring (See News, 3 May 2006) – has been shortlisted for “Cultural Event of the Year” in the Visit London Awards 2006. It’s up against the Horniman Museum’s Africa 05 Festival, the Mayor’s Thames Festival, the Zoological Society of London’s Gay Sunday and Russian Rhapsody’s Event Concept. But will the Elephant also get a nod as “Theatre Event of the Year” in Whatsonstage.com’s own Theatregoers' Choice Awards? Nominations, as decided by you, continue throughout November with shortlists announced at our star-studded awards launch, and Whatsonstage.com tenth birthday party, on Friday 1 December 2006 at Café de Paris.
