Ewan McGregor isn’t the only big name in the running to star in the much-anticipated revival of Guys and Dolls, headed for the West End’s Piccadilly Theatre in the new year (See The Goss, 28 Oct 2004). American TV star Megan Mullaly has reportedly thrown her own name into the hat to play the part of gambler Nathan Detroit’s long-suffering girlfriend Miss Adelaide. The hurdle will be whether she can fit a West End season around her filming commitments for the sitcom Will and Grace, in which she plays high-pitched rich bitch Karen. Directed by Donmar Warehouse artistic director Michael Grandage and co-produced by the Ambassador Theatre Group, which owns the Donmar building, Guys and Dolls will mark the first time that the theatre will mount a major musical for the West End outside its own limited 250-seat confines.
