Workshops are taking place this month at the Young Vic for a stage musical version of Bad Girls, the ITV drama series about lives and loves of staff and inmates in a women’s prison. The story is being adapted by series co-creator Eileen Gallagher and will apparently include stars of the screen version, including Jack Ellis (who plays Jim Fenner) and Sharon Duncan Brewster (Crystal Gordon). Amongst those also involved in the workshopping of the stage version are musical theatre veteran and Whatsonstage.com Award winner Craig Purnell. All going to plan, the musical will be ready to premiere in 2003.
