WOS TV: Smash star Megan Hilty on playing Marilyn & working 9 to 5

Megan Hilty stars as seasoned actress Ivy Lynn in Smash, the hit US TV series set on Broadway.

Hilty is amply qualified for the role, having notched up Broadway credits including Glinda in Wicked and Doralee in 9 to 5: The Musical. She has also appeared in US TV shows including Ugly Betty (2007), Desperate Housewives (2009) and Bones (2010).

Described as “Glee for grownups”, Smash centres on the complex and all-consuming process behind the production of an original Broadway musical.

The first season – in which Ivy Lynn gets cast as Marilyn Monroe in a musical called Bombshell – is released on DVD today (29 October 2012) by Universal Pictures (UK).
