Plays cast: Curve’s Mr Sloane, Lowry’s Arabian Nights & Propeller

Leicester Curve artistic director Paul Kerryson has announced the cast for his forthcoming production of Joe Orton’s Entertaining Mr Sloane, which runs in the Studio from 6 to 24 November 2012 (previews from 2 November).

The cast comprises: Alex Felton, Julia Hills, Andrew Dunn and John Griffiths.

Leicester-born Orton’s 1964 play centres on the sexual tug-of-war between siblings Kath (Hills) and Ed (Dunn) for the affections of handsome
young lodger Sloane (Felton).

Kerryson also announced today a new production of Pam Gems’ biographical play Piaf. The production runs from 22 February to 16 March 2013 and will be directed by Curve associate Paul Kerryson.


The cast of Edward Hall‘s all-male company Propeller’s 2012-13 international tour of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and The Taming Of The Shrew will see seven Propeller debutants lining up alongside familiar company faces.

Ben Allen, John Dougall, Finn Hanlon, Vince Leigh, Chris Myles and Gary Shelford will all return to the company following their acclaimed 2011-12 tour of Henry V and The Winter’s Tale, with Joseph Chance, Lewis Hart, Christopher Heyward, Liam O’Brien, Benjamin O’Mahony, Dan Wheeler and Arthur Wilson joining the company for the first time.

In Twelfth Night, Christopher Heyward will play Orsino, with Joseph Chance as Viola and Chris Myles as Malvolio. In The Taming of the Shrew, Vince Leigh will play Petruchio, with Dan Wheeler as Kate and Arthur Wilson as Bianca.


The Library Theatre Company has announced that Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi, best known for playing Leyla Harding in ITV’s Emmerdale, will head the cast as Shahrazad in the company’s Christmas 2012 production of Dominic Cooke’s adaptation of Arabian Nights at The Lowry.

She’ll be joined in the cast by: Mitesh Soni (Ali Baba); Paul Barnhill (Es-Sindibad the Sailor); Emilio Doorgasingh (Shahrayer); Kezrena James (Dinarzad); Jo Mousley (Marjanah); Tachia Newall (Kassim); Claire Storey (Mrs Baba); and Mark Carlisle (Vizier).
