Plays Cast: Hampstead Skåne, Royal Court’s Westbridge

Casting has been announced for Tim Carroll’s forthcoming production of Pamela Carter’s Skane, which premieres at the Hampstead Theatre from 27 October to 26 November 2011.

The play, which runs as part of the Hampstead’s Downstairs season of new work, is set in Skåne, southern Sweden, where an adulterous couple on the run decide they must put things right and return to their families. But is that what their families want?

The cast is: John Paul Connolly, Shanu Hazzan, Federay Holmes, Michael Karim, Helen Schlesinger, Jethro Skinner, Theo Stevenson and Shannon Tarbet.

Helen Schlesinger’s myriad stage appearances include most recently Blue/Orange (Arcola Theatre), The God’s Weep and The Crucible (RSC – for which she won a Whatsonstage.com Award), The Stone, Wild East, Bear Hug and The Weather (Royal Court Theatre).

Casting has also been announced for the Royal Court’s forthcoming production of Rachel De-lahay’s The Westbridge, which premieres as part of the Theatre Local scheme in Peckham on 8 November 2011 (previews from 3 November) before transferring to the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs.

The play centres on a disturbance on the streets of South London caused by the accusation of a black teenager. While tensions rise, a couple from very different backgrounds navigate the minefield between them and their families.

The cast will include: Fraser Ayres, Paul Bhattachargee, Ryan Calais Cameron, Daisy Lewis, Jo Martin, Chetna Pandya, Ray Panthaki, Adlyn Ross and Shavani Seth.

The production is directed by Clint Dyer, designed by Ultz with lighting by Katharine
Williams and sound by Emma Laxton.
