Cast: Riding & Straker Lead Hackney Panto, Terror at Soho

This year’s Hackney Empire pantomime, Cinderella, will star Joanna Riding, Peter Straker and Sophie Louise Dann, Whatsonstage.com can reveal.

Once again written and directed by Susie McKenna, the acclaimed Hackney panto will go ahead this year without its Olivier Award-winning dame Clive Rowe, who is starring in The Ladykillers in the West End.

In his place, Kat B and Tony Whittle will pair up as The Ugly Sisters, with Sophie Louise Dann as the Fairy Godmother, Mathew Dempsey as
Buttons, Tee Jaye as Dandini, Wayne Perry as Prince Charming, Sophia
Ragavelas as Cinderella, double Olivier Award-winner Joanna Riding as the Wicked Stepmother and Peter Straker as Baron Hardup.

The production, which opens on 1 December 2011 (previews from 26 November), will also features the voices of Clarke Peters and Sharon D Clarke as the Duke and Duchess.

The cast for Terror 2011, which runs from 19 October to 5 November at Soho Theatre, has been announced.

Amanda Lawrence (Greenland, Jiggery Pokery) will star in Carl Grose’s Wormy Close; star of Channel 4’s Shameless Ciaran Kellgren will perform in Jack Thorne’s The Gong; and Eleanor Buchan, who recently appeared in La Fille a la Mode at the National will perform in both Lucy Kirkwood’s Mad About the Boy and Tom Holloway’s If I Should Stay I Would Only be in Your Way, alongside Simon-Anthony Rhoden.

Rhoden will also join comedian and actor Alan Francis, who recently appeared in Cul-de-Sac at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe alongside Stephen Evans (BBC comedies Hyperdrive & Nighty Night) in Dave Florez’s The Waiting Mortuary.

Now in its eighth year, the Terror season moves to Soho Theatre’s brand new Downstairs cabaret space. This unique blend of short horror plays and cabaret “reinvents Grand Guignol for the 21st century”.
