The evening featured a range of festivities culminating in a special gala performance directed by artistic director David Lan and Gísli Örn Garðarsson.
Originally formed by George Devine in 1946 as an off-shoot of the Old Vic Theatre School, the Young Vic was first established in its current form by Frank Dunlop in 1970, with a remit to create accessible work targeted at young people. Speaking earlier this year, David Lan said, “What does it feel like to be old? I haven’t the faintest idea because we’re only just beginning.”
