Is Hollywood Going Movie Musical Crazy???
After years of rumours, it appears that the Les Miserables movie adaptation could finally be set to happen, with production company Working Title signed up to make the film.
According to the Daily Mail‘s Baz Bamigboye recently, the stage-to-screen transfer could be in production within two years; it was hoped to be earlier, but Cameron Mackintosh’s commitments to another big screen transfer, My Fair Lady, have pushed it back.
And elsewhere, Tony Award-winning show Rock of Ages has already taken Broadway by storm, but could now be set to conquer Hollywood. Rumours indicate that Adam Shankman, the man behind the Hairspray movie, will be directing and choreographing. This will hopefully hit cinemas by 2011; perfect timing if rumours of Rock of Ages transferring to London next year prove to be true (See Goss 3 September 2009).
