‘Get into London Theatre’ Launches in January

The ninth annual Get into London Theatre (GILT) campaign will commence in January, offering six weeks of cheap ticket deals and activities to a range of musicals, plays, opera and dance.

The annual event, which runs from 1 January to 12 February 2010, was created by London mayor Ken Livingstone in 2001 in response to the dwindling number of theatregoers following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Though the mayor’s office is no longer directly involved, the scheme continues to be organised by industry body the Society of London Theatre (SOLT).

Booking opens on 8 December 2009, with tickets available at £10, £15, £25 and £35 for a range of top shows. And new for 2010, audiences will also be offered the chance to take part in a range of exclusive activities including acting, singing and dance workshops led by West End professionals.

A full list of participating shows and a schedule of activities will be available soon on www.getintolondontheatre.co.uk.
