American star Morgan Freeman may be lined up for the Royal Shakespeare Company's planned production of Othello. The RSC offering could be programmed to run in Stratford-Upon-Avon with other stints in New York and London. Meanwhile, Ralph Fiennes might also be set for an RSC jaunt when the company revises Ibsen's Brand. Morgan Freeman's career was launched in the theatre, and although he is widely recognised on screen today he didn't get his first movie part until the age of 50. He has won three Obie Awards and has thrice been nominated for an Oscar. Ralph Fiennes graduated from RADA and joined the RSC in 1988. His film career includes starring roles in The English Patient, Oscar and Lucinda and Schindler's List.
