Soho Theatre announces Christmas season of theatre, comedy & cabaret

Soho Theatre has announced its upcoming productions for the Christmas season. Packed with a line up of theatre, comedy and cabaret, the main resident for the season will be the new all male version of Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange directed by Alexandra Spencer-Jones (artistic director of Action to the Word), which comes to Soho after a recent run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Starring Martin McCreadie (Romeo and Juliet) the production, which marks the 50th anniversary of the novel, centres on the story of Alex and his Droogs in their battle against the tedium of adolescence where they lure its audience into the glorious glass-edged nastiness of Manchester’s underworld.

A Clockwork Orange runs from 21 November 2012 (previews from 19 November) until 5 January 2013 in the Main House.

Accompanying A Clockwork Orange is BAFTA award-winner Jack Thorne’s (This is England ’88) new play, Mydidae presented by new theatre company DryWrite. The play illuminates the private and sometimes disturbing moments a couple share. Mydidae runs from 6 December 2012 (previews from 4 December) until 22 December 2012.

Other shows for the new season include: Judith Lucy: Nothing Fancy, David Hoyle & Richard Thomas: Merrie Hell, Sam Simmons: About The Weather, Trevor Noah:The Racist and Late Night Christmas Gimp Fight.
