Grandage stages starry Josephine Hart Poetry Week at Arts

Ahead of its glittering inaugural West End season, the Michael Grandage Company is presenting the equally star-laden Josephine Hart Poetry Week at the Arts Theatre, from 8 to 12 October 2012.

According to press, “Over five nights the work of some of the world’s greatest poets will be celebrated and brought to life with the help of Hart’s words alongside the poems themselves, read aloud by some of our finest actors.”

These actors include such names as Deborah Findlay, Derek Jacobi, Felicity Jones, Rosamund Pike, Eddie Redmayne, Dominic West and Samuel West.

The evenings will centre on the works of T.S. Eliot, Auden, the World War I Poets, Larkin and the American Poets respectively from Monday to Friday.

This week continues the collaboration between Michael Grandage, James Bierman and The Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation which began when they programmed two seasons of Hart’s poetry whilst artistic director and executive producer at the Donmar Warehouse.

Grandage said today, “I’m thrilled to continue our collaboration with the Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation. It’s wonderful to continue Josephine’s legacy to hear the work of these great poets in such distinguished company. The week of poetry at the Arts Theatre will be presented with all tickets at £10 continuing our commitment to make work of the highest quality accessible to everyone.”

The Michael Grandage Company’s 15-month residency at the Noel Coward Theatre begins on 10 December 2012 (previews from 1 December) with a revival of Peter Nichols‘ 1977 farce Privates on Parade, starring Simon Russell Beale.
