Simon Cowell to Stage West End X Factor Musical???

Having populated the West End with the television talents he has uncovered, entertainment mogul Simon Cowell could now be set to produce a musical based on his TV talent show X Factor, the Daily Record reports.

Cowell is reportedly working with TV comedian Harry Hill on the show’s book with music being provided by Spend Spend Spend composer and record producer, Steve Brown.

A source also tells the Record that fans of the show and former stars could be involved in bringing the project to the London stage.

The X Factor brand has been seen on the hoardings of theatres and arenas across the country before, with a live stage show of the programme’s finalists and memorable contestants touring shortly after each series’ conclusion.

Cowell now wants a “funny” musical with “songs people might sing along to, but also laugh along with” according to a source quoted in the Record.

Brown could be well-placed to provide such a score – as well as producing Rumer’s platinum-selling album Seasons of My Soul his credits include composing many of the songs for 1980s satire Spitting Image as well as comedy numbers for TV duo Ant and Dec. His 1999 musical Spend Spend Spend was staged at the West End’s Piccadilly Theatre starring Barbara Dickson.
