Photos: Yes, Prime Minister Packs Red Boxes for Move

Whatsonstage.com Award-winning comedy Yes, Prime Minister – adapted for the stage from the classic 1980’s TV show by its creators Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn – moves back to the Gielgud Theatre on 20 September, following its run at the neighbouring Apollo which ends on 17 September 2011.

For the first time in recent history, the two Shaftesbury Avenue theatres are both displaying hoardings for the same show. The Chichester Festival Theatre production, which won the 2011 Whatsonstage.com Award for Best New Comedy, has now been running constantly since May 2010 either in the West End or on tour.

Yes, Prime Minister will now play a final eight-week London season at its original West End berth before further touring in spring 2012.

The cast, led by Simon Williams as civil servant Sir Humphrey and Richard McCabe as hapless Prime Minister Jack Hacker – who took over from original cast members Henry Goodman and David Haig – were on hand yesterday (1 September 2011) to march their ministerial red boxes the few yards between the West End houses.
