Pemberton, Thompson & Corrie’s Kelly Conquer NT
Steve Pemberton, Sophie Thompson and Coronation Street‘s Katherine Kelly will star in a new revival of Oliver Goldsmith’s classic 18th-century comedy of manners She Stoops To Conquer at the National Theatre next year.
The production, which will be directed by Donmar associate Jamie Lloyd, will open in the NT Olivier in January, with exact dates and further casting still to be announced.

It was last produced at the National in 2002, when Max Stafford-Clark‘s Out of Joint production ran in the NT Lyttelton. Dates and further casting for the new production are still to be announced. The current season finishes at the end of January 2012.
As part of the League of Gentlemen, Steve Pemberton won the Perrier
Award for comedy, a BAFTA and the Golden Rose of Montreux Award. The
troupe’s acclaimed, cult BBC2 TV show spawned two live stage productions
and two feature films. Pemberton’s other recent TV appearances include Psychoville, Benidorm and Whitechapel. On stage he’s been seen in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the Donmar and The Drowsy Chaperone at the Novello.
Sophie Thompson, the younger sister of Emma, won an Olivier for Into the Woods at the Donmar Warehouse. Her other stage credits include Company, Measure for Measure and All’s Well That Ends Well, while on screen she’s appeared in EastEnders, Gosford Park, Fat Slags, Nicholas Nickleby, Harry Potter, Emma and Persuasion.
Katherine Kelly, who trained at RADA, has been with the cast of Coronation Street since 2006, playing the role of Becky McDonald. Previous stage credits include The Accrington Pals at Chichester Festival Theatre, Othello at the Manchester Royal Exchange and Tamar’s Revenge, House of Desires, Pedro, The Great Pretender and The Dog in the Manger for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Director Jamie Lloyd is an associate director at the Donmar Warehouse, where his credits include Piaf, Polar Bears, Spelling Bee and Passion. His other credits include The Little Dog Laughed, Three Days of Rain and The Lover/The Collection, as well as The Pride and The Faith Machine at the Royal Court.
