1st Night Photos: Sher Breaks Glass in West End

The Tricycle Theatre’s acclaimed production of Arthur Miller‘s Broken Glass opened at the Vaudeville Theatre on Friday (16 September, previews from 14 September 2011) following a month-long restaging at the show’s Kilburn home. The production was originally mounted at the Tricycle in September 2010.

Antony Sher reprises his performance as Phillip Gellburg, a Jewish man in 1938 New York, whose wife Sylvia is so affected by Kristallnacht (night of the broken glass) in Nazi Germany that she becomes temporarily paralysed. He now stars alongside Tara Fitzgerald as well as Caroline Loncq, Brian Protheroe, Suzan Sylvester and Stanley Townsend.

Directed by Iqbal Khan and designed by Mike Britton, Broken Glass plays a limited West End season until 10 December 2011.

The cast and crew were joined to celebrate their opening night by guests including Michael Blakemore, Gregory Doran, David Soul, Simon Green, Caroline Muir, Richard Coyle, Ruth Bradley and Orla Charlton.
