WOS TV: Up Close With … David Haig & Henry Goodman

Chichester Festival transfer, Yes, Prime Minister opens tonight (27 September 2010) beginning its limited run at the West End’s Gielgud Theatre. Starring David Haig and Henry Goodman this stage adaptation of the eighties political comedy is written by the original writing team of Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn.

Reuniting Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby (Goodman), hapless Prime Minister Jim Hacker (Haig) the new play follows the pair, with the assistance of his Principal Private Secretary Bernard Woolley (Jonathan Slinger) and new addition to the cast, Special Policy Advisor Claire Sutton (Emily Joyce) facing a country in financial meltdown, with the only prospect of salvation coming from morally dubious allies – leading to “deliciously comic consequences”.

David Haig and Henry Goodman sat down with Joseph Pike to talk about this new stage adaptation of a television classic.

Yes, Prime Minister plays at the Gielgud Theatre from 27 September 2010 (previews from 17 September) for a limited run until 15 January 2011.
