Goodman Aims for Future Life for Good Death???

Best known to theatregoers as a multi award-winning actor, and just opened in the West End this week in screen-to-stage political comedy Yes, Prime Minister, Henry Goodman is also an accomplished director. And today, he takes a break from treading the boards to helm an impressive line-up of fellow actors – Oliver Cotton, Anton Lesser, Matthew Marsh, Josette Simon and Christian Mackay – in a reading of a new play about euthanasia at the National Theatre Studio. Wannie de Wijn’s A Good Death premiered in 2008 in the Netherlands, where euthanasia has been legal since 2002. The story, translated from the Dutch by Bonnie Beekman, centres on a fictional lung cancer victim who gathers his dysfunctional around him for his last day before choosing to die by lethal injection.
