London’s Oldest Nun Parties at Sister Act???

The capital’s oldest Nun will celebrate her 90th birthday tomorrow (30 September) with a trip to see screen-to-stage musical Sister Act at the London Palladium.

Sister Josephine Deviney hails from (or at) the Holy Family Convent in Woodford Green.

A spokesperson for the production told Whatsonstage.com: “She’s coming along with three other nuns who are her good friends … Josephine is an interesting character who has served as a missionary all over the world, including 25 years in India where she resided during the Second World War years.”

Sister Act recently extended its booking period at the Palladium until 18 December 2010 (See News, 26 Aug 2009). It stars Patina Miller as disco diva Deloris Van Cartier and Sheila Hancock, who has extended her stint until 27 February 2010, as the Mother Superior.

Sister Josephine will attend tomorrow’s 3pm matinee performance.
