Revel Horwood Lines up More Actor-Musician Revivals???

All going to plan, an announcement about the West End transfer of the Craig Revel Horwood’s actor-musician revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard – first seen in August at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury, West Berskhire – should be imminent (See The Goss, 12 Aug 2008).

And there may be many more where that’s coming from. In an interview with Whatsonstage.com (See Brief Encounter, 22 Sep 2008), Revel Horwood has revealed that he’s set up a production company, CRH Theatre Productions, with musical director Sarah Travis, who won a Tony Award for the Watermill’s actor-musician Sweeney Todd. The result could be more actor-musician offerings from next year.

Revel Horwood said: “We’re doing a dance piece called The Hunger, and we want to do a new version of La Traviata. We’d love to reinvent Gypsy, but they won’t let us so we’re still working on Sondheim for that one. We’re going to try and start things at the Watermill and then tour them, starting with revivals of shows we’ve already achieved there, like The Hot Mikado, which I’m just trying to get all together at the moment for next year.”
