With the next instalment of the acclaimed Notes from New York, the West End platform for contemporary US musical theatre, set to take place at the newly opened Trafalgar Studios this Sunday 19 September 2004 (See News, 11 Aug 2004), word reaches Whatsonstage.com that this could be one of the last chances for fans to catch the series in its current form. Plans are still afoot for a first anniversary gala celebration in November, but we have it on good authority that the series will take a break thereafter with no shows so far in the pipeline for 2005. "It was launched as a series to profile the work of a select number of contemporary US composers," says a source close to the production team, "and the producers feel that it has done just that. It's now time to evolve." Don’t despair too much. We understand a second series from the same team is on the cards for early next year.
