This past weekend, Calamity Jane, starring Toyah Willcox, completed its three-month season at the West End's Shaftesbury Theatre, but producers are gambling that we may not have had enough of it yet. The revival of the 1953 musical comedy, set in the Wild West frontier of pioneering America, has already had an extensive UK tour. In April 2004, it will embark on an Australian tour, with a possible return to London at the end of next year. Meanwhile, the Shaftesbury is reading for the UK premiere of the Tony Award-wining Broadway musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, which opens on 21 October, following previews from 11 October (See News, 7 Jul 2003).
