Photos: Jonathan Pryce rehearses Attenborough’s Lear

Rehearsal shots have been released for Michael Attenborough‘s upcoming production of King Lear at the Almeida Theatre, starring Jonathan Pryce in the title role.

King Lear is arguably Shakespeare’s most highly-regarded work, and tells the story of an old British king whose life and state is torn apart by his foolhardy decision to abdicate and divide his land and power according to which of his three daughters professes to love him the most.

Also featuring Kieran Bew (Edmund), Trevor Fox (Fool), Steven Elliott (Oswald), Phoebe Fox (Cordelia), Ian Gelder (Kent) and Richard Goulding (Edgar), the show opens on 11 September (previews from 31 August) and runs until 3 November.
