Old Vic opens applications to 24 Hour Plays
The Old Vic Theatre’s “Old Vic, New Voices” scheme has just opened applications for this year’s 24-hour plays event.
The theatre are inviting applications from actors, directors and producers aged 18-30, who are tasked with creating six brief plays to be written, rehearsed and performed within a single day. The age range, which was previously 18-25, has been extended for the first time this year.
The event, which involve six writers, six producers, six directors and 20 actors, will take place on 28 October 2012.
Kevin Spacey, artistic director of the Old Vic, has previously said of the scheme “The 24 Hour Plays: Old Vic New Voices acts as a powerful talent showcase … It has proven to be a terrific springboard for those who participate.” The scheme claims to have launched over 250 theatrical careers, with particular luminaries including Mike Bartlett (Chariots of Fire), Iris Roberts (Duchess of Malfi) and Charlotte Mills (Jerusalem).
The applications for the scheme, which are being organised via IdeasTap, will close 23 August 2012.
