Any Dream Will Do may have trounced Grease Is the Word in the reality TV ratings earlier this summer, but that’s not stopping Bill Kenwright, one of the judges on the BBC contest and co-producer of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, from tapping the talent discovered by the ITV rival programme.

Kenwright has cast Wayne Smith, one of Grease Is the Words Danny Zuko finalists, as Pharaoh, aka Elvis with a twist, in his upcoming tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s family musical based on the Bible story about Joseph and his 11 jealous brothers. The tour, which has just launched a 16-week schedule from Bromley’s Churchill Theatre, also stars Any Dream finalists Craig Chalmers and Chris Barton as Joseph and youngest brother Benjamin, respectively (See News, 5 Jul 2007).
