A festival of new musicals that was scheduled for this weekend and then cancelled last week due to lack of funds (See The Goss, 1 Aug 2005) is now back on thanks to support from Cameron Mackintosh Ltd and the Musicians Benevolent Fund. Originally, the London New Musical Festival was scheduled for over three days, from 5 to 7 August 2005, with a programme of ten new musicals, works in progress, workshops and panel discussions. Although it has now had to be scaled down and the venue changed to the Shaw Theatre in Euston, the event is still going ahead this Saturday and Sunday, with three workshops and five new musicals. Among the experts taking part are Jeremy Sams, who will lead a workshop about singing Sondheim, and voice coach Mary Hammond, who will hold a masterclass on audition songs.
