Amongst those additional stars who are likely to join Joanna Riding and others for American composer Jason Robert Brown’s September concert dates at London’s New Players Theatre (See Today’s News) is triple Olivier Award-winning Best Actor in a Musical Philip Quast. In an interview last month with Whatsonstage.com (See News, 29 Jul 2004), Brown – who acted as musical director for Quast in his 2002 Divas at the Donmar cabaret season - confirmed that the actor was keen to take part. Quast is currently at the National, where he’s Miles Gloriosus in the Sondheim musical A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and will soon open in the world premiere of David Hare’s play Stuff Happens. Even if the Brown concert dates clash with his NT performances, the NT is only a dash across the river from the New Players so Quast should be able to swing it.
