As rumours galore abound concerning a movie version of the hit musical Chicago, it seems likely that Renee Zellweger will be offered the part of murderous vamp Roxie. Kevin Spacey is being hotly tipped to play the lawyer Billy Flynn with Kathy Bates a strong contender for the role of Mama Morton. Russell Crowe and Catherine Zeta Jones are two other names recently tipped for starring turns, although Madonna, Goldie Hawn, Kate Beckinsale, Gwyneth Paltrow and Hugh X-Men Jackman have all been thrown into the pot at some stage. Filming is scheduled to commence early next year, with likely venues including London and Toronto. The Olivier Award-winning West End production of Chicago is currently booking to February 2002 at the Adelphi.
