Star Quality, which has just opened at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre ahead of a regional tour, looks destined for the West End by the end of the year. The Noel Coward comedy, newly adapted and directed by Christopher Luscombe, stars Penelope Keith and Una Stubbs. It reveals the backstage world of talent and treachery in the lead-up to a new show. Star Quality is co-produced by Yvonne Arnaud and Theatre Royal Windsor along with prolific commercial producer Bill Kenwright. After Arnaud, its touring schedule takes it to a further seven venues, ending in Bath in late October. November could well bring a more permanent London address to the production. If so, it would be in cosy company with several other new Kenwright productions in the West End, which include Caught in the Net and the much-anticipated Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, starring Hollywood's Brendan Fraser.
